Mission Statement
Helping teachers, students, and parents succeed!
I Believe
Whatever you awakened in others, you awakened in yourself
One word, one moment, one instance makes a lifetime of difference
The time is now because it is the only real chance that we have to live and let live
To have a strong America, there must be strong families living in adequately resourced communities supported and underpinned by fair economic, political and social policies
How I Can Help
Educating children who are living in poverty is challenging. Growing up in a home with 16 siblings in a poverty – stricken environment, I am uniquely positioned to help. Research has shown that the most important ingredient to the success of students is well-trained, high quality and informed teachers. Many teachers only have a cursory view of poverty and the impact poverty has on academic achievement and future lives of students. This unfamiliarity with the scourge of poverty creates a knowledge gap and lack of understanding of how to best work with these students.
May goal is to help teachers and other professionals understand how the mind is shaped by poverty and how to move these students to success. I have written six books to help teachers increase achievement in the classroom. Two of the six books specifically focus on poverty and how to help students counteract the negative impact of living in poverty.
